Athlete Training: Pool Interval Training

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a type of training that involves repeated cycles of high intensity levels of exercise followed by low intensity levels of exercise. Proven benefits of HIIT include improved cardiovascular health, blood pressure, and fat loss.

My favorite part is that HIIT allows me to have similar, or even better, benefits to continuous exercising in less the time!

Workout Instructions:
*25m pool

  • Freestyle – sprint 2 lengthsSwim Fast.jpg
  • Breaststroke – slow 1 length
  • Sidestroke – sprint 2 lengths
  • Breaststroke – slow 1 length
  • Backstroke – sprint 2 lengths
  • Breaststroke – slow 1 length
  • Sidestroke – sprint 2 lengths
  • Breaststroke – slow 1 length
  • Freestyle – sprint 2 lengths

Depending on the speed of your sprints, this workout should take between 10-12 minutes to complete.
