Play of the Week: Louisville Screens the Screener

1-4 Low offense sets are common halfcourt plays. Teams who have scouted ahead may try to trap, soft hedge or hard hedge the ball-handler in order to prevent some sort of easy basket. One way to make it difficult for the defense is to screen for the screener.

During the 2013 NCAA Tournament, the Louisville Cardinal had success against the Duke Blue Devils by screening the screener. The early screen made it difficult for Duke to get out and hedge the ball screen. Louisville was able to dribble into the lane, force help, and pass to the open teammate.
